Since the event was a fund raiser, there were about ten tables displaying a variety of silent auction items—many with a starting bids of $100. Shirtless young men were walking around selling tickets for a raffle to win two round trip tickets to Australia. In addition to the QAF cast members, among the other “celebs” present was Gabrielle Anwar, who plays Fiona in Burn Notice.
Gale and Yara arrived about 1:30 and were still there when I left about 5:00 pm. Yara was dressed in a navy blue dress with lapel collar, ¾ sleeves and a full skirt wearing a wide tan leather belt and platform sandals with hemp covered wedge heel. When Gale arrived he was carrying a bouquet of flowers. The bouquet had a more modern look to it with several large flowers, maybe orchids or lilies. I wondered if he brought it to give to Sharon, after she received her award. Sharon came later and accepted her award. She had had a family emergency and was dressed casually. She said jokingly several times, “This is not what I planned to wear!” Her acceptance was very nice, humble and appreciative.
